We are seeking a Senior Design System Designer to join the Nova team. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining and evolving our design system, collaborating closely with developers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams across Belgium and Germany. Your work will help shape the future of our digital products, ensuring they are accessible, cohesive, and aligned with our broader organizational goals.

Mission tasks: (non-exhaustive)

  • Guide the ongoing development of Nova's design language, ensuring it supports a diverse range of products across multiple platforms and technologies.
  • Collaborate with developers, UX Researcher, UI Designers, and stakeholders to create, maintain, and evolve components, UI patterns, and documentation.
  • Write clear, comprehensive documentation and usage guidelines to educate UX researchers, UI designers and engineers on how to effectively use components and patterns across design and code.
  • Review production components to ensure they match the UI library and meet Nova's high standards for design and accessibility.
  • Evangelize and support the adoption of Nova across various teams, helping them transition smoothly to the new version of the design system.
  • Advocate for accessibility best practices, ensuring our design system and components are inclusive and user-friendly.
  • Support other Product Teams with UI Design tasks.

Requirements:

What you bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in UI Design or Interaction Design, with a proven track record of contributing to or leading the development of design systems in growing organizations.
  • Expert in creating component libraries with variables in Figma; strong understanding of product ecosystems; experience with design tokens.
  • Expert at navigating technical complexity and working productively with engineers.
  • A compelling portfolio showcasing your design projects, problem-solving abilities, and design process. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
  • Experience in front-end development is a huge plus.
  • Understanding accessibility guidelines is a plus.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of German, French, or Dutch is a plus.

Additional information:

Location: Working location will be mainly in the Brussels area (homeworking possible 2-3 days a week) and on-site in Belgium and Berlin occasionally
