Market Design Analyst

Mission

Our Optimisation department is a young and dynamic team, eager to respond to market changes and ready for the future, wherein people are encouraged to be curious and innovative in a positive atmosphere. The department is responsible for managing our gas and electricity portfolio and maximizing the value of our assets in the market.

The Portfolio Structuring team functions as center of expertise within the Optimisation department, while also extending its support to company-wide initiatives. Our role involves supporting strategic investment initiatives, structuring and managing long-term energy contracts, and defending position regarding market design evolutions with relevant market stakeholders.

As part of the team, the Market Design Analyst is responsible for the follow-up of the market design and regulatory framework to support in a fast-changing energy landscape. Additionally he/she manages the contracts of the services concluded with the Transmission/Distribution System Operators.

Key Responsibilities

As Market Design Analyst, you will be responsible to:

  • Follow the evolutions of market design - in the context of European market integration - and regulatory framework on the ancillary services, balancing mechanism, offshore integration, capacity remuneration mechanism (CRM), Consumer Centric Market Model (CCMD), …
  • Participate in workshops organized by the TSO/DSO and contribute to the preparation of proposals for improvement, answers to consultations and positions in close cooperation with Corporate Affairs and other concerned teams and/or within the sector association;
  • Organize transversal working groups both within and beyond the Optimization department to exchange information and enable discussion on TSO/DSO market design, Capacity Remuneration Mechanism, …
  • Analyze the changes to regulatory documents and contracts established with the TSO/DSO, as well as the System Operator's short and long-term development plans, and assess the impact .
  • Assist relevant teams within and beyond the Optimisation department in executing these changes at both contractual and operational levels.
  • Maintain a bird's eye view and advise your line management on the technical or strategic directions to be taken.
  • Stay up-to-date with customers' needs and emerging technologies within the energy sector to ensure our assets/products remain competitive.
  • You will interact with Retail department, the Wind department, the Legal department, Corporate Affairs and the operational teams to recommand product use cases or pilot projects.
  • You are the spokesperson of Optimisation department towards the TSO for all market design and contractual matters and you maintain regular contact with the TSO's Key Account Managers.

Job requirements

  • You have a Master's degree in Engineering, Commercial Sciences, Economics or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the energy sector

  • Fluency in at least two languages, either French/English or Dutch/English.
  • Communicative, great presentation skills and written communication skills, able to synthesize information effectively.
